Practical way to lose weight

Firstly you should set realistic goals. Do not expect to lose a lot of weight in weeks, it takes time. I would also advise staying away from the scale as it can be a bid demotivator. Instead of using a scale pay attention to your waistline and how your clothing is fitting. It will make it that much more difficult to lose weight if you have been working hard and the scale shows that you haven't lost a pound. If you are exercising you will build muscle and that does weigh quite a bit.

Cut down the number of carbohydrates that you are consuming. Carbohydrates are basically sugar and your body likes to store them as fat when it can not use the excess. Junk food such as soda, candy, chips, bread, fast food, beer, etc are all packed with carbohydrates. The less carbohydrates that you are putting into your body the less your body will potentially store. If it has much sugar in it, try to find something else or substitute it. Carbohydrates are like a drug to our body and you can even go through a sort of sugar withdrawal.

The next step is to step up your physical activity. If you burn more energy than you are putting into your body you should lose weight. You should consider picking up a new hobby like bicycling or walking. Walking 45 minutes a day a few times a week can make a big difference. Walking at work or around the house does not count either.

You should also try substituting some of those things that you might of enjoyed before such as soda. Perhaps drinking diet soda or sugarless drink mixes. There are also sugar substitutes out that you can hardly tell the difference from real sugar, but they are more expensive.

Your body is just like a machine if it does not get the proper maintenance (exercise) and you do not use the proper fuel (diet), you cannot expect to lose weight by any natural means. Portion control can also be a valuable tool.

I should note that this will be a slow process for most people and may be difficult. With a bit of dedication and adjusting of their technique almost anyone can lose weight if they set their mind to it. Keep at it and don't give up.

* Diets can be hard. * Changing your lifestyle can be hard. * Healthier foods are typically more expensive than your junk foods. * Just because you are cutting back on carbs does not mean you cannot have them. Just make wiser decisions where you are getting your carbs and how many.

* if you have any major health issues you may want to consult a doctor before attempting a diet and certain exercises.

I agree :)

I've been trying to go on diet forever and because I want it to be real fast, what I do is not to eat at all, which, ofcourse, has it's side effects.

Thanks for the info!
