How to clean your shower head
62
Carefully remove your shower head. Make sure you remember how to replace it.
You may or may not want to take your shower head apart, but it is NOT necessary. If you do take it apart, make sure you will be capable of putting it back together. Put the shower head in a container such as a pie tin and poor some vinegar through the top of it and let it start flowing into the tin. Let enough vinegar get into the tin that it submerges the holes where the water comes out. Let that soak for about 10 minutes.
After the initial soak use an old toothbrush or something similar to scrub the shower head. Buildup on the shower head should be starting to come off by now. Don't be afraid to pour more vinegar through the shower head. Use a toothpick if there is any mineral buildup that will not dissolve or is easily removable.
If your shower head is still not clean you may need to soak it longer. Make sure you get most of the vinegar out of the shower head and replace it back as it was originally. You might want or need to use teflon tape on the shower threads to help prevent any leaking if that becomes an issue.
If your shower head is not functioning better after this may need to go deeper into it or just buy a new shower head.
* be careful with the vinegar it can sting in open cuts, you will also want to avoid getting it into your eyes. * vinegar does have a strong smell.
