Defining the meaning of life
47FIrst of all the point of this article is to start a discussion and stimulate some thoughts on the meaning of life.
Many of times I have debated on the meaning of life. Why are we here? What is right and wrong?
My short answer is that the meaning of life is whatever you decide to make it for yourself. Perhaps you will decide to sacrifice and dedicate your life to helping others. Or perhaps you will dedicate your life to self satisfaction by any means.
To me a long healthier life is what I seek. Another person may find great satisfaction in smoking a pack of cigarettes every day. Is one of us right while the other is wrong? Or perhaps we are both right and wrong in eachothers eyes.
Would it be better to live a shorter happier life than a longer dull one?
Are we more like a colony of bacteria on something bigger that we cannot understand?
If someone created us, who created them? And then who created that being? Or perhaps in infinite randomness there is order and life as we know it destined to happen.
Perhaps religion is something made up by us to make a set of moral standards and create order in society. We could all be right and wrong at the same time perhaps.
These are some of my thoughts. Anyone else?

I have never sit and thought of the meaning of life as many people do. I was saved at a young age. And have felt since then that this life is just a dress-rehearsal. The decision we make in this life determines where we spend eternity. And once we are saved, it's our job to share God's Word with others and to be support for others who are saved. He has us here for many reasons. We all have different talents and gifts to use. And when we are through with our job, God will call us Home. Life on earth is short, but eternity never ends. So, that's what I think the meaning of life is. The Bible says that "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." So, I believe the minute I take my last breath, I will be in Heaven in front of God.
I totally agree with allshookup. To answer the question though, it is funny how atheists believe that the concept of God is ridiculous because they ask, "where did God come from?" And then we say, where did the Big Bang come from? Both theories require a lot of faith, but of course, I think mine is the more reasonable answer since at least I have to acknowledge the concept of eternity is too big to answer for this puny human, and the idea of evolution requires more faith than I have.
If it wasn't for God, I might be a gay, crossdressing, chain smoking, Britney Spears impersonator and because it is some weird expression of my demented self, say it's perfectly ok, and I would be right. But thank God, there is a God, and I know that overeating and even occasional smoking are things I need to stop. Fun hub!

I think we are all right because each of us has lessons to complete on this earth. Each lesson is solitary to the individual but it all involves others. That is called "The Ripple Effect". There is also karma or cause and effect for each decision that each of us makes, weather it be thought or what we say and how we say it to what we do and how we do it. The main goal is to achieve pure and unconditional love of everything and everyone. There is more to it than that and there is a nice website that explains it in great detail. http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~acceptance/You
